It’s almost finals time, and the Sydney Bears would like to pay tribute to all their loyal fans at the Grey Gums Pub this Sunday night.
The Bears head into their final home game of the season after a convincing 3-0 win over last year’s AIHL champions the Adelaide Adrenaline, giving the team a wave of confidence for the game against the Knights and a bit of extra momentum going into the finals. This has given Coach Rubes greater reason to believe the Bears could be champions.
'We want to lock in our playoff spot this weekend. With Nick (Boucher) playing amazing in goal and the teams strong effort from the previous weeks we know it’s in our hands to reach our goal', he said. Come on down to the Penrith Ice Palace this Sunday 5pm, to cheer on the Bears before they make their bid for the Goodall Cup. |

The BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs want to celebrate the future of our sport with the Westbus Pups Club Gala Day which kicks off at 3pm before the Dogs take on the Adelaide Adrenaline at 5pm this Saturday night. There will be street hockey and other games out the front of the LCC Sports Complex from 3pm. The Pups Club winner of the EA Sports NHL 2010 video game on XBOX 360 will also be announced plus lots of other prizes for the kids to win just for showing up to the game.
“We are already starting to see the league and sport start to grow and hopefully when the kids get to this level they are playing in front of thousands of supporters” says Ice Dogs player Scott Stephenson. “However to get there the most important part of the process is keeping them in the sport, ensuring they are enjoying themselves and give them a level they can aspire to”.
The Ice Dogs will be holding two mini exhibition games in the intermissions of the Ice Dogs vs. Adrenaline game between some of the Atoms teams who will get a chance to play in front on an AIHL crowd. “We are hoping to turn this into an annual event and build on the experience for the kids each year” finishes Stephenson.
So bring the kids early for some fun before watching the Sydney Ice Dogs take on the defending AIHL champions the Adelaide Adrenaline this Saturday August 7th at the LCC Sports Complex, Liverpool. Pups Club kids make sure you bring your passes for free entry into the game.

Two teams with the most historic rivalry in the AIHL will match up this Saturday night May 15th at the LCC Sports Complex. The BANQ Ice Dogs take on the Penrith Bears on home turf with the puck set to drop at 5pm. The Bears are coming off a tough Melbourne Adelaide road trip and are looking for redemption as the BANQ Ice Dogs are hungry for their first win of the season. It is shaping up to be quite the ice hockey game. To heat things up even more the Bears have at least four ex-ice dogs in their line up looking to show up their old team with the Dogs sure to make them pay the price.

For the Sydney ice hockey community it is a chance to see some of the new recruits on the Ice Dogs such as their highest profile signing in club history Derek Campbell and the nifty addition of import Andrew DeCristoforo. The Bears have also injected some serious talent in Eric Begin, Vlad Pelikovsky and Mical Lauko and have the solid and talented Micheal Schlamp back on the squad after a years break.
Pups Club kids that show up to the game will receive a free player poster to hang on their wall and the game is proudly sponsored by EA Sports NHL 10 who have donated the video game as the prize that is to be raffled off! The Ice Dogs are also having a Home Opener Jersey Clearance sale, with pre-warn Ice Dogs Jerseys on sale for as low as $15 a jersey, but only available at either of the Ice Dogs home games this weekend.
It is all happening this Saturday May 15th at the LCC Sports Complex at 5pm, so don't miss out as the AIHL season is finally underway and in full swing! For more information see www.icedogs.com.au |

Ice Dogs sign Highest Profile Import in Club History |

The Ice Dog's have signed Derek Campbell the highest profile import in club history this 2010 season.

With at least 10 years Pro experience amongst the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League, United Hockey League and the Elite League in the UK Campbell's resume makes him the highest profile import to date at the Dogs and suggests he will be a force in the Australian Ice Hockey League and certainly worth watching.
Campbell can be considered a rare all-round hockey player that will add firepower upfront given the points he has put up in the Elite league, East Coast Pro, Canadian Major Junior and University hockey. On top of that he is certainly not afraid to drop the gloves if need be.
"Derek can put points on the board and send a message which is something we [the Dogs] feel we have lacked the last couple of seasons" explains Captain Anthony Wilson. The Nepean, Ontario native from Canada won't be alone as the Ice Dogs have stocked up on import talent this season.
"We are proud to add an import of Derek's calibre to the line up" says Coach Mark Stephenson. "I think he will fit right in with our team, and his experience will be of great benefit to our pursuit for a national title this season".
The addition is not only a big plus for the Dogs but also for the local hockey community who will be able to see a high profile import on a consistent basis which is very important to the growth of the sport and gives the kids another idol they can follow.
Ice Dogs supporters and the Sydney hockey community can get their first glimpse of Derek at the home opening weekend starting May 15th and 16th when the Ice Dogs face the Penrith Bears and Melbourne Ice at the LCC Sports Complex. |
